Tenure begins February 2, 2026

The CLPNA is happy to welcome Helen Barker to the Council as its first regulated Health Care Aide (HCA) member, bringing more than three decades of frontline experience and leadership in continuing care and acute care settings. Helen has pursued extensive professional education in medical administration, infection prevention and control, safety, and clinical support systems.

Her career spans roles with Palliser Health Region and Valley View Nursing Home, where she served as an Assisted Living Supervisor, and she has been a dedicated HCA with Alberta Health Services since 2009. Helen is known for her strong patient advocacy, professionalism, conflict-resolution skills, and ability to lead in dynamic, high-pressure environments. She also currently contributes her expertise through service on a human resources committee, further demonstrating her commitment to effective governance and workforce development. Helen’s deep practical experience, commitment to safe and compassionate care, and strong leadership abilities make her a valuable addition to the CLHA Council.
